East Ayrshire taxi fares and licensing

Current verified taxi tariff, licence-fee snapshot and official licensing sources.

Licensing authority: East Ayrshire Council

Current hackney taxi tariff

  • Tariff detail 1: First 1,320yd £4.50; then 25p each additional 130yd or part
  • Tariff detail 2: Hires 23:00-06:00 surcharge £2; specified Christmas and New Year periods double fare
  • Tariff detail 3: For 5-8 seat taxis, each passenger over four £3
  • Waiting wording needs confirmation: The council specifies £2.50 for each subsequent five-minute waiting period or part, but its sentence about the initial five minutes is malformed. TECSI does not assert a guaranteed free initial period from that wording.
  • Tariff detail 5: Called but unused £4.50; call-out £1; fouling £50; journeys over five miles may be agreed specially
  • Optional VAT-operator surcharge: An operator registered for VAT may add a surcharge per hire at the VAT rate current at the time, provided an appropriate notice is displayed inside the vehicle. This is operator-dependent, not automatically payable on every hire. Calculator base estimates exclude this surcharge.
  • Approach-distance scope: The council maximum rates include travel from the nearest taxi stand to the uplift address. Calculator illustrations assume pickup at the stand and exclude approach distance, call-out, waiting and other extras.
