The current February 2026 amendments require first-entry HC/PH vehicles under 5 and Euro 6; continuing vehicles may remain licensed until 12. WAV/specialist vehicles are under 5/Euro 6 at entry with a 17-year maximum. Imported age is measured using 1 January of manufacture year; otherwise use V5 registration. The vehicle must pass an approved Certificate of Compliance test and cannot also be licensed elsewhere. Submit the online application then pay, providing motor insurance, CoC and V5; the council's form also requests driving-licence details.

Operator applicants must be at least 21, have UK right-to-work/right-to-live evidence, obtain Basic DBS and complete safeguarding training. The operating address must be inside Slough. The council requires the operator's own dispatched drivers and vehicles to hold Slough licences, including one-vehicle operators. Applicants meeting the requirements request the application form from licensing@slough.gov.uk. This summary does not treat the local-licensing requirement as a ban on lawful subcontracting to another operator.

Slough's current driver page lists £486 for a new three-year private-hire or hackney/combined licence, £333 for a one-year renewal and £399 for a three-year renewal, plus £51.50 per knowledge test. Its current vehicle page lists private-hire grant £376, renewal £272, transfer £103, temporary replacement £376 and exemption £155; the hackney page applies the same £376 grant and £272 renewal figures from June 2026. The operator page lists grants at £600 for one year and £1,135 for five years, with renewal fees tiered by fleet size.
