Mandatory qualifications
Official route/source found

The council's January 2025 licensing policy requires new hackney-carriage and private-hire drivers to pass a council-approved safeguarding and child-sexual-exploitation awareness course before grant, with the course repeated every three years. New drivers must also provide evidence of a council-approved practical driving assessment. Applicants must have held a full DVLA or EEA driving licence for at least twelve months. These are operative policy requirements; applicants should still check the council's booking instructions and approved providers before paying for training or assessment.
