The application page requires a UK/EU licence held24 months and states no motoring convictions. Submit the medical form; an interview checks documents, medical and DBS matters.

Vehicle licensing

Apply online for a one-year hackney carriage or private hire vehicle licence. The published annual charges are £466.96 for a hackney carriage (£161.62 electric) and £347.83 for private hire (£158.56 electric). Before buying, taxi companies can submit vehicle details for a council pre-purchase consultation; the response target is 48 hours. A pre-purchase discussion does not guarantee licensing: approval remains subject to inspection.

Operator licensing

Businesses inviting or accepting private-hire bookings require an operator licence and must dispatch licensed vehicles with private-hire licensed drivers. The council offers two-year licences at £66.38 per vehicle or five-year licences at £165.95 per vehicle. These are the published application options; complete operating-base and DBS conditions still require policy extraction.

Withheld or still needing confirmation
  • Vehicle/operator conditions and full fees outstanding.
  • Night wording omits Friday-night/Saturday-morning explicitly; do not silently repair when encoding.
  • Enrichment only. Vehicle gap remains; full operator conditions not exhaustively extracted.
  • Preserve prior verified fields. Full current vehicle eligibility and document requirements remain incomplete. The September2024 policy PDF was recovered but a current application-page link/adoption check is unresolved, so its two-year first-registration limit was not promoted as confirmed current.
