Private hire vehicle renewal is £250 for 12 months, or £180 for a six-month licence for vehicles over seven years old. Applicants must be over 21, have held a UK DVLA licence for at least twelve months, and demonstrate right to work. The current application page requires an approved driving assessment, English-language evidence or an approved assessment, enhanced DBS, and DVLA Group 2 medical evidence. The medical can be completed by the applicant's GP or an identified approved provider with access to the medical summary. All new and renewing drivers need disability-awareness theory training; drivers of wheelchair-accessible vehicles additionally need the practical element.
