Driver licensing
Official route/source found

Council application route includes medical, police and DVLA checks plus local knowledge and route tests. Main page direct fetch403; official indexed text reviewed.

Vehicle licensing
Official route/source found

Upload every page and both sides of the V5, current hire insurance, approved-garage pass sheet and compliance certificate. Non-local-driver proprietors must provide basic DBS, including each company director or partner; locally licensed dual/private-hire drivers are exempt because of their enhanced DBS. For new applications the basic certificate must be within the preceding 12 months. Missing uploads may be emailed to licensing.

Operator licensing
Official route/source found

Operator renewal requires disability policies and procedures, basic DBS certificates for directors who are not already Brighton and Hove licensed drivers, a nine-character HMRC tax-check code and a booking/dispatch staff register. Those directors need annual basic checks. Operators must record seeing recent basic DBS evidence for booking and dispatch staff; staff returning after removal require fresh evidence. The register must be retained consistently with booking records. Unsatisfactory or missing disability procedures cause the application to be returned.

Licensing fees
Official evidence found; detail still to confirm

The committee approved the 2026–27 taxi fee appendix on 6 November 2025. Unambiguous matching figures across its columns: three-year dual driver £400, PH driver £320, annual HC vehicle £240, five-year operator £780 for both 1–2 and 3-plus car categories; route test £80. PH vehicle and knowledge-test figures are withheld: the labelled proposed column shows £200 and £50, but an unlabeled final column shows £210 and £67. The appendix has been visually checked and this is a source ambiguity, not an extraction assumption.

Taxi tariff
Official route/source found

Official current page shows ten tariffs. For1–4 passengers normal flag£3; evening/Sunday/holiday£4; midnight–06£5. Initial176yards or54seconds, then30p per started unit, combining distance/time. Festive bands differ. A2026review is proposed, not proof of an adopted increase.

Mandatory qualifications
Official route/source found

Official page requires professional taxi Level2 BTEC and driving assessment, but still names the former DSA scheme; current approved provider and equivalent qualifications need confirmation before booking.

Withheld or still needing confirmation
  • Full vehicle/operator/current licensing fees not extracted.
  • Driver training page contains old DSA terminology; accepted assessment route needs confirmation.
  • All10fare bands and combined distance/time engine not yet reviewed; calculator withheld.
  • 2026proposed fare review must not be treated as operative.
  • Resolve unlabeled appendix column before publishing PH vehicle/knowledge fees; new-versus-renewal distinction and operative day not stated in this appendix.
  • Enrichment only; operator detailed requirements still not verified, and vehicle age/emissions conditions require the full handbook.
  • Preserve prior verified fields. This is the current official indexed renewal checklist, not a complete new-operator grant policy. Direct fetch currently fails; the council's indexed page supplied the detailed evidence. New-grant premises, term and complete conditions remain unverified.
