- Taxi tariff
- Official evidence found; detail still to confirm
The council's current licensing page links a table dated 1 August 2011, not a newly introduced 2026 tariff. Up to four passengers: under 0.7 mile £3.20, then 20p per 0.1 mile to one mile and 12p per 1/12 mile thereafter. For five or more passengers in a 5–8-seater: £4.30 initially, 20p increments to one mile, then 18p per 1/12 mile. Waiting £10/hour. Night, Sunday/bank-holiday and additional-passenger extras apply; consult the linked complete table and confirm the old-dated schedule before a fare dispute.
- Mandatory qualifications
- Official route/source found
Knowledge test: 80% in every section, with three attempts before a 12-month wait. Requirements include a practical taxi driving certificate, online safeguarding pass, medical, enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service and driving licence. Shortest-route questions apply to hackney and dual applicants. Renewals and applicants licensed elsewhere need the relevant HMRC code.
Withheld or still needing confirmation
- The currently linked fare document is dated 1 August 2011; no separate recent adoption or confirmation notice was found. Its age is explicitly disclosed, not represented as a 2026 change.
- Vehicle inspection cancellation notice conflicts: the webpage says 24 hours while the 2026/27 fee PDF says 48 hours. Confirm with licensing; no single period is stated as settled here.
- The current page states operator application requirements but no dedicated online operator application link was verified; use the council licensing contact.
