Current charges: new dual-driver licence £220 one year, £270 two years or £320 three years; hackney vehicle £240; private-hire vehicle £220; operator licence £260 one year through £740 five years. A £30 vehicle discount applies where the published low-emission or wheelchair-accessible criteria are met.

Council-linked tariff chart operative from 3 October 2022. Tariff 1 (06:00-23:00 daily): £3.60 first mile, then 20p each 176 yards. Tariff 2 (23:00-06:00 daily; 18:00-24:00 Christmas Eve/New Year's Eve; all bank holidays except Christmas Day/New Year's Day): £4.80 first mile, then 20p each 146.66 yards. Tariff 3 (Christmas Day and New Year's Day): £6.00 first mile, then 30p each 146.66 yards. Each tariff adds a 25% surcharge for 5+ passengers and 25p per 60 seconds waiting. Soiling charge £80.

New driver applicants need acceptable written and spoken English evidence at a minimum equivalent to ESOL Entry Level 2, an enhanced taxi-driver DBS registered with the Update Service, a Group 2 medical, and passes in the council's online knowledge and safeguarding tests.
