Repaired write-offs: check taxi licensing eligibility before buying

According to TaxiPoint's vehicle-buying explainer, a repaired insurance write-off is not automatically eligible for taxi or private-hire work. GOV.UK describes Category S as repairable structural damage and Category N as repairable non-structural damage; both require repairs that restore roadworthiness before road use. Separate council licensing conditions can still prevent a vehicle being licensed. Prospective buyers should check the intended authority's policy, the repair history and insurance before paying a deposit. This explains existing distinctions, rather than announcing a new UK-wide licensing ban.
